CE Detains Victim of Domestic Battery

A victim of domestic violence was recently detained for deportation proceedings by ICE when she appeared in court to testify at her abuser’s court hearing. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) under President Obama cooperated with local law enforcement in protecting victims and witnesses of violent crimes with a U Visa to allow them to remain in the US long enough to obtain justice against their abuser and in some cases remain here with a work permit and protection from deportation, is now seeking to deport these victims and allow the abuser, often a US citizen or lawful permanent resident, to avoid criminal liability.

In other words the Trump administration, under the pretext of protecting Americans from violent crimes Is currently, in cases such as this, punishing the victim with deportation for 10 years and allowing the criminal to go free.
